Tea and scones

Hubby and I ate a lot of scones and pastries during our trip to Dublin over the weekend. For breakfast on Friday morning, we went to Avoca.  It was a quiet morning, with only a handful of patrons around having coffee and reading the morning papers.

We shared an apricot Danish pastry and a big fruit scone with strawberry jam and cream, which were washed down with a latte and early grey.

We met an old friend at the Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt on Saturday morning for coffee.

There had been a light dusting of snow earlier, but the sun was shining and so we picked a table beside the bay windows with a bright, but lovely view of the gardens.

We ordered a basket of pastries and scones to share.  There were raspberry jam, strawberry jam, rhubarb and ginger jam, and blueberry curd, as well as vanilla cream for the scones. Naturally, Hubby and I were on a sugar high for a while after breakfast!

All that jam, cream and sugar were washed down with cups of earl grey.

We were invited to our young friend’s Stavros for afternoon tea, but by the time we got there, we were pretty much sconed-out, but it was lovely to catch up nonetheless. Come over to Auntie Gcroft’s soon!
