I added Bill Granger’s Everyday Asian cookbook to my collection recently. It is a very pretty book with interesting Asian recipes. There is a recipe for Japanese curry in the book which I was keen to try as both of us love Japanese curries. While the curry turned out ok, it didn’t really taste anything like the curries we’ve had in Japanese restaurants here in London or in Perth a few months ago. In fact, it tasted a bit like dhall. It wasn’t really a bother as the curry complemented the pan-fried chicken breast and rice I served it with. I did add some extra ingredients after realising it didn’t taste like what I was expecting it to. **Update** We had leftovers for lunch today and the curry was delicious – still like a dhall, but absolutely tasty!
